Chesterton pupils raised a fantastic £365 on Red Nose Day. We had an enjoyable day dressed in as much red as possible.
Each class held a joke-telling competition in the morning, before the champion comedians went head-to-head in a special assembly. Watched by our judges - Miss Gascoigne, Miss Mansfield and Mrs Leonard - our thirteen brave contenders cracked their best jokes to make the audience chuckle. There were some especially cheesy gags, even better than Mr Horner's, and the standard was high. In the end, Alfie Clarke triumphed with his joke about Miss Gascoigne and a boy not handing in homework! Watch of our videos to have a laugh at some of our other contestants.
The fun didn't stop at the end of the school day as our School Council helped run the ever-popular cake sale to 'Bake a Difference'. The array of sweet treats certainly disappeared quickly!
Parents also kindly donated loose change at the start and end of the day, with a little encouragement from the School Council bucket shakers.
Thank you to all our bakers, jokers, donors and red-wearers who supported such a worthwhile cause
