Sports Personality of the Year

Sport and physical activity play a key role in school life at Chesterton. Children throughout the school are coached by professional coaches and experienced teachers both within curriculum time and during our after-school clubs. All pupils take part in two timetabled PE lessons per week.

Our Physical Education curriculum covers a range of areas including swimming, gymnastics, dance, athletics and team games. Our focus is on developing skills that can be applied to many different sports and activities. As pupils move through the school, there are more opportunities to use these in specific games and our aim is that all pupils have the chance to compete against other local schools in inter-school events.

We also organise a number of intra-school events; Sports Day is a popular event in our school calendar, where all children have the opportunity to compete at their level and this year we held our first ever indoor athletics Sportshall Showdown.
