How were our house names chosen?
In September 2015, the school held a competition to name the new houses. Pupils were invited to suggest four appropriate names and justify their choices with supporting evidence. The winning entry (Buckle, Jersey, Penrose and Squire) was from Henry W. (Oak Class) and links to the names of local figures from Chesterton’s history. Click here to read their biographies

Our house competition was keenly contested at the end of Term 6, with Squire (Rebecca Shaw/Miss Gascoigne) managing to overtake Buckle on the final day for their second win of the year with a narrow seven point victory. Today also saw the culmination of the annual competition, with the winning house for 2015-16 having their name engraved on the house trophy. Nearly 5000 points have been accumulated throughout this year and the race was incredibly close. Only 52 points separated first and last place and the triumphant team only finished 16 points clear of their nearest challengers.

Chesterton CE Primary SchoolHouse PE T-Shirts

We have added PE shirts in house colours (priced at £4.50) to the uniform available from PMG (our usual suppliers). These can be worn as part of the school PE kit for use in PE lessons and for other sporting activities. We felt that they would also be useful for sports day in the summer term, as there would not be a need to find a coloured shirt to wear. Your child and any siblings will always remain in the same house, meaning that there won’t be a need to find different coloured shirts each year.
These t-shirts are currently an ‘optional extra’ and existing navy blue PE t-shirts or plain white t-shirts/polo shirts can certainly still be worn.
