Welcome to the Chesterton school website

It is a great privilege to welcome you to our school and to share with you what makes Chesterton such a special place to learn, grow and belong.

At Chesterton, our vision is 'Building Firm Foundations for Life'. inspired by the words of Matthew 7:25, we seek to provide every child with strong educational, social, moral and spiritual foundations that will enable them to flourish both now and in the future. Guided by our Christian ethos, we strive to nurture children who are confident, compassionate and equipped to meet the opportunities and challenges of the modern world.

Our six core values of Respect, Compassion, Resilience, Hope, Integrity and Humility are at the heart of everything we do. These values shape our relationships, our learning and the way we care for one another and we encourage every member of our school community to live out these values each day, helping to create a culture where everyone feels welcomed, valued and supported.

We are proud to be a thriving Church of England primary school serving Chesterton and the surrounding villages. Our dedicated staff work tirelessly to provide a rich, engaging and ambitious curriculum that inspires curiosity, creativity and a lifelong love of learning. We believe that every child is unique and has the potential to succeed, and we are committed to helping each pupil discover and develop their individual gifts and talents.

Alongside high academic expectations, we place great importance on children's personal development and wellbeing. Through collective worship, outdoor learning, Forest School experiences, educational visits, sporting opportunities, music, the arts and leadership roles, we aim to provide memorable experiences that help children grow in confidence, character and independence.

Partnership is one of our greatest strengths. We value the strong relationships we share with parents, carers, governors, our School Association, St Mary's Church and the wider community. By working together, we create a supportive environment in which children can thrive and develop a genuine sense of belonging.

Our school is fortunate to be supported by a committed and knowledgeable governing body who provide both challenge and support, helping to ensure that we remain ambitious for every child and faithful to our vision and values. Alongside our governors, our dedicated School Association plays a vital role in the life of the school, bringing families together through community events and fundraising that enrich opportunities for our children. We are also proud of our close links with St Mary's Church, the Akeman Benefice and the wider village community.

As Headteacher, I am passionate about ensuring that every child feels known, cared for and encouraged to be the very best version of themselves. I want Chesterton to be a place where children are excited to come to school each day, where staff are inspired to give their best and where families feel welcomed and involved in school life.

Whether you are already part of our school family or considering joining us, I hope our website gives you a flavour of the warmth, ambition and community spirit that make Chesterton such a wonderful school. We would be delighted to welcome you for a visit so that you can experience our school in action and see first-hand how we are building firm foundations for life.

I look forward to welcoming you.
